Try driving the truck to warm the fluid then drain it. Add two quarts ATF to the case then put it in nuetral and run the trans in drive for a couple of minutes to flush the case then re-drain and fill with either synthetic gear oil or a 10w30 motor oil, you could even run ATF if you prefer.
